I'm planning on building a gaming pc and I have planned two different builds. Both of them are around $800. I planned an Intel based system and an AMD based system.
Intel: CPU: Intel Core i5 4690K
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: MSI Z87 G43-Gaming
Memory: Team Vulcan 8GB DDR3-1600 Mhz(2x4GB)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Video Card: MSI R9 280 3GB Twin Frozr
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912
Power Supply: Antec High Current Gamer 620W

AMD: CPU: AMD FX 6300
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: Asus M5A99FX R2.0
Memory: Team Vulcan 8GB DDR3-1600 Mhz(2x4GB)
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
Storage 2: Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB SSD
Video Card: MSI R9 280 3GB Twin Frozr
Case: Cooler Master HAF 912
Power Supply: Antec High Current Gamer 620W

I will be playing games like Planetside 2, Thief, Evolve, Black Light Retribution, etc.
I'm going to game on a single 1080p monitor and have secondary 720p tv to be on windows. Both are around 24".

you need to post the links which look like

  1. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ZVJ3gs

but the last /xxxxxx digits will be different for your own particular links.

in the top left of the webpage. you cannot copy the url at the top of the screen in the browser since it will only redirect us to pcpartspicker and show us the last build we worked on.

the i5 is much stronger than the FX 6300. you need the FX 8320 or 8350 to compete with an i5. the SSD is a nice touch though.

agreed. you should be running a fx8320 not the fx6300 in the comparison.

the intel build is going to be stronger for sure however will also cost you about $100-150 more. a fx8320 cpu is more than good enough for gaming however if you have the budget for it... intel is by far the better choice.
