I have an old computer (AMD Athlon XP 2600XP, 2 gigs of RAM, ATI Radeon 3800 video card with DVI, SLink and VGA, running Win XP Pro), that I wanted to hookup to my TV(via VGA) and I plugged it in a few months ago, just to see if it worked. The TV(Samsung Plasma 50in) has HDMI, Slink, RCA, Component, and VGA inputs. When I first hooked the computer up via VGA, I got the BIOS screen asking what processor I had(the computer had been turned off so long and the bios battery was bad so I needed to set everything back up) but I didn't have a keyboard, so I wound up disconnecting the computer, and bringing it into work with me. At work, I replaced the bios battery, switched out my two 512 sticks of RAM to two 1 gig sticks, wiped the HD, Reinstalled a fresh copy of Windows XP Pro SP3, and all the other software I might need. Tightened all the screws down, made one last check of the software, and brought the computer home with a keyboard. I hook the computer up to the TV, the same way I had it before, and now I get no video on the TV, not even a bios screen. The TV looks like it recognizes the PC is connected(the PC light becomes active on the TV) but there is no video. I hooked my laptop up to the TV using the same VGA cable, and my laptop works perfectly well on the TV. I can hook up my laptop via HDMI or VGA and it works, I go to hook up the computer, and no good. I don't have an extra monitor at home to determine if the computer somehow went bad in the 15 minute ride home from work. But it looks like the computer is booting up, the keyboard lights up and allows me to turn the num lock on, caps lock on and such, but no output. I think the problem lies somewhere with the PC as my laptop connects to the TV just fine using the same cable. Any suggestions?

The VGA is coming off of the graphics card, and there is no onboard video. I was considering buying a cheapo video card from best buy or something. But I may just lug the computer back to work on Sunday and see if it still connects to a monitor. Or when I come home I could bring a monitor with me. I don't know, I just lack the spare parts to fully test it. Also, I'm not getting any weird POST beeps, so I think it maybe a failing video card? I may go and buy a S-Video cable tomorrow and see if that works.
