Hello, I'm new here wanting to see if anyone here can help me.

I am looking to see if there is any way I can get more FPS while gaming. A few months ago I felt like my PC was running fine, then all of a sudden I've noticed a drop in FPS while playing some games. Here are my specs:

AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Processor 3.30 GHz
16.0 GB Ram
AMD Radeon HD 6900
Windows 8

I do not know much about PCs so I am not sure if there is anything I can do to boost my settings a bit to get more FPS while playing games. I wasn't sure if I there was something I could do to my current setup without having to spend more money on this PC.

Thanks for the help!

Might be temp. Running very high it seems. CPU is 66C or 150F. Mainboard is 42C or 107F. Not sure what I can do to make it run cooler...

I should clean it too since it's been a few months.

Cleaned everything and still getting a very low amount of FPS. Games are still playable but just not in the fashion they used to be. Any other suggestions? Since I don't know much about PCs, I might just take to my local TigerDirect store and see what they can do for me.

is windows still recognizing the same amount of RAM as it was before?

Forgive me for asking but, where would I see this? I went to my BIOS and it seemed to say that I had 16gb running but I am not sure if it's telling me how much is installed or how much is currently working.

start button/ right click computer / properties/ its listed in the system info.

also Ctrl+shift+esc will bring up task manager, check the performance tab.

check the control panel/hardware/power options to make sure you arent in low power mode, it has advanced settings too i would look through.

@Beezy - I am in the "High Performance" power plan.

@VerminsCulprit - The two games I have notice this in are CS:Go and League of Legends. League mostly since it shows the FPS at the top right. Previously during game play I was at 150+ FPS now during game play it is around 40 or less which is realistically playable I just don't know why the sudden drop off and what I can do, if anything, to fix this issue.

No, I thought it maybe it was when I ran Spotify or something but I stopped running everything and anything...still the same result. Maybe it's just time to upgrade. People have been telling me to maybe run an i7 for better performance...not sure though.

Edit: To answer your question...yes, those are the results while playing.

I lied. I started to play a different game that I thought would be more labor intensive and my FPS took a tumble and my computer's temp skyrocketed up. I believe it's time for me to get a new PC.
