Building my first computer and got it all together to find out that i can't boot. When i turn it on all fans and led's run but i get no visual on the monitor. I have tried with 1 stick of ram and the bare minimum outside the case but still can't get the initial Bios.

CPU: Intel Core i5 4590
PSU: SeaSonic G-550W
GPU: ASUS Radeon R9 280
RAM: Patriot Signature 8GB Kit (4Gx2) DDR3 1333

Solution
If you boot without the gpu installed, is there a display? If so, try updating/installing windows, update the motherboard drivers and the BIOS if necessary.
Then go into the BIOS, turn off secure boot. Test the R9 280 again. Make sure you plug it in with a firm push until you hear a click.
If it still doens't work, report the issue to the motherboard vendor and ASUS so they can test the incompatibility. Request a RMA from where you bought the R9 280 if possible.

Just wondering how i can update or install windows and the drivers if i can't get any visual. Also there is no display even without the gpu.

So without the gpu installed, you plug the monitor cable to the motherboard but no display when you turn it on? The fault is somewhere else, not the gpu.
The i5 4590 has integrated graphics so it should still boot up with a display.
Check if your ram is plugged in properly. check your cables inside are secure.
Make sure you plug the 8 pin EPS on the top left of the motherboard.
Check if your front panels cables are plugged in correctly.
Check that the power switch cable is in the correct order. The positive pin onto the positive slot on the motherboard.

Hey, did you ever get this problem resolved? I just set up my brand new ASRock H97M Anniversary and had the same issue. I don't have another LGA 1150 processor to check it with, but I did swap out the memory with an H67 machine I have - memory works great in the H67, so that's not the issue.

I think I might have to RMA this puppy. I really hope it wasn't just something careless on my part.

Thanks

I know this is from a few months ago, but I have the same mobo and CPU and actually had the same problem at first when I built mine, so I figured Id answer it. I originally couldnt get a visual either even though everything turned on, was running, etc. Normally people say to use dimm slots 2 and 4 when you only have 2 ram, but for this mobo on first boot you want to have your ram in dimm slots 1 and 3. Plug your ram into slots 1 and 3 (the blue slots) with everything off, and then when you power on, your comp will boot to the UEFI setup utility the way it should.

Hope this helps!
