Hello,
I have an HP e9620f desktop that I am hoping to replace some parts to upgrade the gaming abilities.
I am currently running a MSI MS-7613 mother board, with an Intel Core i5-750 processor, with 8gb RAM, and a NVIDIA Geforce GTX 550 Ti graphics card.

I was thinking of updating the RAM to 16 GB, and trying to overclock the processor (but this motherboard does not allow it).

I am having issues with many of my USB ports so I was considering replacing them as well. (hence new mother board).

What do you recommend?

This is the only board that seems worth the $$$ for the quality.

Although you won't be able to overclock it with a multiplier with the H61 chipset. Honestly, at this point you may as well save the money and get a nice mobo/cpu combo. That is pretty much an ancient socket now since the 1150 replaced the 1156 almost immediately. On the plus side, you can easily keep your RAM and 550Ti, no issues. Here's a link to a nice mobo/cpu combo.

If you want to stay Intel - http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=9110144&CatId=11497

Or maybe AMD -...

About the same price but the AMD set up is quite stronger at this price point. Either way you go you will be satisfied. If you really want to upgrade, get a new CPU and mobo. Also 16GB of RAM is overkill still, so that will save you around $80 to go towards the new mobo/cpu.

Cheers
