Games still slow after having 1 gb graphics

I am using desktop, intel pentium inside with 2 gb ram. My graphics is 1 gb , but still many games doesnt work smooth. While having the same 1 gb graphics in my laptop the same games work very smoothly.. why is it so?
What modification will help me solve this?

what are the games and what is your complete system specs?

How games run doesn't depend only on the video card but it is graphically intensive. Posting the games you play and your complete system specs will help.Judging by your pentium, games in like 2007-2010 will not run smooth on high and what video card do you have?

Asus Nvidia Geforce 210, 1GB DDR3
I can play gta 4
Assassins creed 4
Fifa 14
Etc.. but all these only works with low graphic
settings
Pc ram is 2 gb

My laptop is also 1 gb graphics but i can play in it with high graphic mode and it runs smoothly

Geforce 210 is for desktop use and not really for gaming. Your laptop may have 1 gb of graphics memory but the graphics card itself is different. It's much better. Memory is never the main basis in comparing different video cards. for example, 1gb Radeon HD 7730 is much, MUCH better than 1gb Geforce 210. You should've made a post here on upgrading advice.
