Hi, I have an older TV which only supports 720p and NOT 1080p which I think might be the issue as I cannot get anything to display on the HDMI channel on the TV when I connect my Laptop or Play Station 3 to it with a HDMI lead. However the Xbox 360 does actually connect.

I did get a display however when I altered the Laptop settings to "Extend Display" but the quality of the text shown on the TV from the display of the Laptop was horrific. I could not read text at all even after using the Text Adjust for best quality tool that Windows has.

The PS3 issue of not showing anything (unlike the 360) is also very annoying and not sure how to solve.

Has anyone had this sort of issue before, and how would I go about solving it? Thank you for reading.

Solution
I found out how to "Clone" the display from the laptop to the TV which makes the display the same rather than extending the display but the resolution is wrong now as th TV supports 1920x1080 but is now using the laptops much lower resolution of 1280x720. This might not be a problem but the text is still a little hard to read.

Now though the main issue is now getting the PS3 to connect because at the moment, it shows as a black screen but at least I can live with this. I also altered the scaling to a personal scale which makes the screen's display now fit on the TV.

Also the borders of the display on the TV are cut short so that it does not fit on the TV correctly. This seems to be a very common problem but my TV does not seem to have any settings to correct this.
