My computer specs destroy Guild Wars requirements but yet i am getting under 18 fps. This game lags like a bitch, even on the lowest graphics. Why?
CPU: AMD FX-6300
GPU: R9 270x
MOBA: Asrock 970 Extreme 3
RAM: Corsair Vengance 8gb

More about : guild wars fps

Other games too?

From your bios or uefi, what cpu temps are you getting?

Well i got my pc fixed and i have noticed performance has lowered in some games like skyrim. I wouldn't know what my cpu temps get too, and if they get high well then they would be overheating as soon as i turn on my pc.

Look at your cpu temp in AXTU that came with your motherboard.

Also check the 12v, 5v and 3.3v readings.

Post the readings

Your power supply is OK but your cpu is way too hot.

Blow out your case - especially fans, filters and coolers. Get rid of any cpu overclcok you had. Bump the cpu fan speed up to 1500rpm

Post the new cpu temp.

So clean the computer?

yes - blow it out with an air compressor or can of compressed air - to get the dust out and help with air flow and heat conduction.

Your cpu should be running at less than 40C on idle and less than 55C gaming

If that doesn't get it down enough, then you'll need to re-seat your cpu cooler. If that still doesn't work you'll need to get a good custom cpu cooler eg coolermaster hyper 212 evo.

70% of the time, blowing your case out is enough. 90% re-seating your cooler does the trick. Soemetimes it's pooer voltages - usually from your power supply and raely from the motherboard.

If yu get it running cool again, your fps should return.

I had to take the cpu off a few months ago to replace the motherboard. I have never needed to use a cpu cooler but i just opened my pc and the cpu fell out. It was loos since the paste on the cpu ran dry. Would that be the reason for it overheating and also is my cpu at risk?

You always need to use a cpu cooler. The cpu can't fall out. It should be locked into the cpu socket on the motherboard.

Make sure the cpu is properly on the cpu socket - check no pins have bent bent first and locked in.

Clean old thermal paste off cooler and cpu with isopropyl alcohol. Apply a pea size drop of Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste to the center of the cpu. Put the cooler back on and hook up the fan.

Post your temps then.

I don't have thermal paste but the cpu is in tightly and the temp are hitting around 43 to 45c. I changed the fan speed to 1500 and the target temp to 45. Will this be fine.

Guild wars 2 is absolutely unoptimized for multiple cores and doesn't care about your gpu. With a q6600 and 680 gtx I was getting 30-40 frames, about 15-20 with people around me. Changing to I7 4790k on stock speeds and iGPU/660 ti/680 gtx I'm getting 40+ in 200 men wvw battles and 120+ wherever else.
