Hey guys. will be building a new system soon:
i7-4790k
Asus maximus VII hero
Corsair Vengeance 1866 8gb
Swiftech H220X
XFX 850W pro modular PSU
case: either NZXT H440 or Corsair Air 540
GPU: If i go for the red team ill go for a Sapphire r9 290 vapor X but i am not sure about the best 780. Both cards in some time will be watercooled (Using the swiftech pump and rad) so that is a major issue. Another thing that get me thinking are the arrival of new cards around christmas, so another option is to postpone the build to that time.

Also i will be playing at only 1080p. But i want to ramp up everything on max and have smooth gameplay.

What are your thoughts on the GPU issue?

There is always something new down the corner. So if you keep on waiting for new hardware you have to wait a long time I guess. I suggest buy what you can now and enjoy it. I do not think 780 or 290 (or anything in your build) is going to be obsolete for next couple years.

I am rather a nvidia fan and I will choose a 780 any day. 780's are costlier by maybe 30/40$ and for me its worth it. I am planning to buy one very soon.

For brands, EVGA and Asus had always been good to me :)

I think that is you'll watercool the gpu the r9 290 will be the best choice because it's cheaper and a bit faster in most games (but for example not in Watch Dogs). The heat and noise will not be a problem because of the watercooling.
