Is it possible that my PEGATRON 2AB6 motherboard does not support 8GB of RAM?

Hello,

I've been running on 4GB (1x4GB) of RAM with my computer and have felt the need to upgrade it to 8GB. These were my specs:

Motherboard: PEGATRON 2AB6 (edit: specs)
BIOS: AMI 7.14
RAM (1x4G): Samsung DDR3-1333 M378b5273dh0-ch9
Edit: my OS is Windows 7 64-bit

My motherboard has 4 RAM slots of different colors, two blue ones and two black ones.
I have bought another 4GB RAM of the same frequency :

+ RAM (1x4G): Corsair DDR3-1333 CMV4GX3M1A1333C9 COR CL9


The PC works alright when I use ONE of these two 4G RAM sticks (both work!).
However, I can't seem to make both of them work:

- when I put one on a blue slot and the other on a black slot (which looks like the correct thing to do to me), PC throws 5 long beeps (and loops) and doesn't boot.
- when I put both of them on a blue slot, PC boots normally with a single beep at startup, but I only see 4G RAM installed according to Windows.


So, does anyone have a clue of what could be the cause of this?
I'm willing to add logs (CPU-Z for example) or photos if needed.

First off, they should be installed in the same colored slots (either both blue or both black). Try booting your system with one RAM modules installed. Try it for each RAM slot, then repeat with the other RAM module (a total of 8 reboots). If both RAM modules boot when installed in each RAM slot, then it's likely a RAM incompatibility issue. If that's the case, I'd recommend returning your newly purchased 1x4GB module in exchange for a 2x4GB kit.

The OS should definitely not be a problem since I'm running on Windows 7 64-bit.

I did what you suggested (trying each slot individually with each RAM) and all of them worked.
Since I had already tried to use both blue slots I put them both on the black slots and it worked!!! with 8GB =)

I haven't tried the blue slots again (and I ain't gonna try to fix what's not broken!) but my guess would be, unless there is indeed a malfunction, that the BIOS needed to boot individually on the new RAM to recognize it before booting on both?

Anyway, thank you very much, it's my first and great experience with this community =) It sucks a bit that I can't give it anything back with regards to my lack of knowledge on hardware stuff.

Hey! You still have this PC? I have the same one, and I need some help, I would like to update BIOS but I can't find the version you have, I have the last before yours, where did you find it?
