Will they work without the usb plugged in, i like to watch movies in bed and i have a long 3.55mm lead going from my comp to my bed with a splitter for my wife and would like to know would gaming headphones work?

I was thinking about getting the P11 or X 12, is there better for a budget.

Thanks

If you mean using a USB headset with a 3.5mm adapter of sorts then no it won't work. Ones digital the other is analog.

The turtle beach headsets are absolutely trash by the way. Whats your budget and does it have to be a headset instead of stand alone headphone + clip on mic?

Budget is as cheap as possible, i had hd201s but they broke i am sending them back quality was trash. I would actually prefer a headset with a clip on, i am a budget as cheap as possible.

For as cheap as possible I had a pair of 30 dollar plantronics that were alright, pretty damn good for the price but nothing spectacular.

For a stand alone pair of headphones you might try the ATH M30s but they are kind of pricey at 50 bucks.

Clip on mics, I just go with whatevers cheap, the 10 dollar Zalman mic has a pretty good reputation, haven't used it personally though.

Headphones I've tried include quite a few cheap earbuds > $30 plantronics > $50 corsair vengeance 1500v1 (sale) (retail 80-100 bucks) > (warranty after previous set broke) corsair vengeance 1500v2 > ($150 bundled with amp) DT990 pro 250Ohm.

But for 50 bucks I highly highly recommend a pair of corsair vengeance 1500v2s if you can find them on sale thats what you should get, even if you have to run an active USB cable.

Will these get 7.1 surround, also would you recommend one of those 7.1 adapters? Also i have been entrigued with headphones with a vibrate function how do these compare?

Thanks

If your going with a 3.5mm jack you could grab a cheap asus xonar card that includes ... uhh.. dolby... something. I forget the terminology but its basically simulated surround sound. It works really well, its also whats in most of the USB headsets that boast 7.1 surround sound.

Never used the adapters or the vibrating headphones sadly so I can't comment there. But I do miss the simulated surround sound on my vengeance V1500s.
