Hi everyone, my pc have been restarting randomly since 2 weeks ago.. I think. I don't really know what to do now.. I can't figure out the exact problem.. So please help..

It restarting randomly, while browsing, while idle, even while booting.. Then, I do a clean new install of Windows(I thought It was caused by virus or malware or whatever), but the problem still there, so it must be the hardware, right?

The next day, I realized the problem happen after 2-3 hours of usage. But it happen mostly while I'm gaming.. I've run memory test already and it was fine.. Then I've tried Furmark, and run the 1920x1080 GPU test, my pc restarted instantly when I click GO! My friend said maybe it was PSU problem, then, I've tried changing my PSU with his, and Furmark test goes smoothly, no restart or whatever.

After that, I've change it back with my PSU, and weirdly, Furmark goes smoothly too.. It's really weird. Then, after 2-3 hours of usage again, the problem came back, Furmark cause restart again.. It's really confusing.. Anyway here's my PC Details..

OS : Windows 8.1 Pro x64
Motherboard ASRock H87 Fatality
Processor Intel i5-4570 CPU @ 3.20GHz
Memory RAM Apacer 2x4GB
VGA Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost
PSU Corsair VS550
HDD 1TB Western Digital

And here is my PC temperature while gaming..

All of them is normal right? except for processor, when idle it was about 40 degrees, but when gaming, it raise up to 79 degrees..

Sorry for the wall of text and bad english, but I really need solution for my pc.. :(

Thanks! :)

Hi, yes a CMOS Battery is a circle battery on your motherboard, it keeps the bios settings correct and date and time etc when there is now external power going to the pc.

I had a pc a while back that also kept restarting etc.. i changed the battery and all was good :) i believe the battery you'll need is a CR2032, very cheap from your local pc shop or ebay.

If it was a more recent build then i would say that your gpu has the incorrect bios but this cant be the problem as it's been working fine up until now.

I would suggest trying the battery first.

Hi Lukas4477, thanks for the reply! :D

May I ask what the CMOS battery is? And why it's causing problem, sorry I don't really understand about pc hardware and things..
And nope, it's not a new GPU, I build my PC just like that 1 year ago.. nothing changed, it just this problem started to happen since 2 weeks ago.. Maybe it's because of frequent blackout in my house because of short voltage.. I don't really know..

also your cmos battery is located under your first pci-e slot.. also sorry, the cmos battery may be causing a problem with not holding your settings like any overclocks etc if the battery is dying.

Hope this helps a little.

Thanks for the explanation, now I understand everything :D
Okay then, I'll try to change the CMOS Battery tomorrow and see if the problem still persist..
