Hello all,

I've upgraded from a HD6870 to a Sapphire R9 280X Dual-X back in October 2013 and initially I didn't have problems with what I played. Heck, I even beat Arkham Origins without crashing once. Further gaming sessions with Battlefield 3 etc also went by flawlessly, but after a month or two I started experiencing crashes (hardlock of the system) requiring a hard boot.

This happens with games, but also when I play videos using with hardware acceleration for example...

My specs are as following:
2500K @ 4.5GHz
8GB RAM
Sapphire R9 280X Dual-X
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600W

I should probably add that I've built my system in 2011 with a 6870 and overclocked it in 2012 and had zero issues with the build until I upgraded the GPU.

It's almost a year now since I've had this card and these crashes are getting more often, and due to that I've opened up my PC again and checked my PSU's specs and found the following: http://abload.de/img/ocz600mxsprszsd.jpg

Now my question to the experts here; is it adequate? Is the PSU the reason why I get these crashes or is my GPU (also) faulty?

If my PSU isn't adequate, what would you recommend?

Solution
600 watts is adequate for an r9 280x even overclocked. Since you built it in 2013, AND you finished Arkham Origins, your GPU might be starting to die. you could underclock to increase the life. See if underclocking helps.
