Okay so I recently got a new television and I try connecting it to my HP ultrabook and whenever I plug it in an error message saying
Quote:
"An HDMI-to-DVI display connection has been detected. In order to hear audio on your HDMI-based TV or display, you will need to have a separate audio connection from your computer sound outputs to your TV or audio equipment."

Therefore no audio is being output from the television! But the thing is, when my son tries HIS laptop, it works perfectly, the audio is being output from the television!
How can I solve this problem? Thank you!

Originally DVI would not support audio but on some PCs that was changed. Your laptop video doesn't support this it seems and your son's does. You just need to add an audio cable to get yours to work.

there is no other solution ? I would prefer to remain at home and fix this problem as we don't really live very close to any electricity stores!

Check and compare your default playback device with you sons. Control panel, sound.
