So recently I built my new gaming rig, and the only thing I was missing is the graphics card, and now I have the money to afford one.

My rig's specs are as follows:
CPU: i7 4790k
Mobo: Asrock Z97 Extreme 4
PSU: Corsair CX 750M
Ram: 2x4gb 1600mhz

I'm looking to spend 400$ max for my GPU, and I have the following GPU's to chose from:
GTX770
R9 280x
Open box R9 290x

I would purchase the 2 year warranty with the open box 290x.

I'm looking for pure performance, for the latest games and video editing/streaming.

Some of the games I want to play:

MOST IMPORTANT GAME: Arma III

FarCry series
BF4
CoD Ghosts
GW2
Titanfall

Thanks in advance!

I'd get the r9 290X, only because it has a warranty. If it didn't then I'd choose the GTX 770 so as not to risk a bad open box graphics card.

Can you cite a source for that? From what I can tell, all Nvidia GPUs from Fermi onward and all AMD HD 7000 and R-series GPUs will be compatible with DX12.

My recommendation is very comfortably the R9 280X at 1080p. The 770 offers very little for its higher price.

Again, source?

I'm not sure what the relevance of this is. If your choice is between half-support and no support (and I'm not convinced either is true), what practical use is that to a buyer today? If no video cards available today completely support DX12, how long will it take before there is an installed user base for DX12 to actually be put to use by developers?

The 290x is the optimal choice, just make sure it is not the vanilla cooler version.
