I'm having trouble with my graphics card. When I powered my PC up the GPU fan turned on with much more power than usual and nothing displayed. I switched to the motherboard display and did a system restore and when I got to my desktop I got an error message saying that no AMD drivers are detected or drivers incorrectly installed. I tried reinstalling catalyst but it still has unable to detect my graphics card. I am using a radeon 5970 from a build me and my friend did several years ago and never had any problems with it before. The GPU fan is still blasting away even though the the video card isn't doing any work or even being detected as far as I can tell.

Solution
Try opening your case and making sure the graphics card hasn't creeped out of its slot. That is to say ensure it is securely in its slot and that its power connectors are fully and securely attached. Components can 'creep' out of their slots over time due to the PCB expanding and contracting as the component heats and cools.
