University in Japan, what to do with computer (Used parts in Japan?)

I'm currently a rising senior in high school, with plans to pursue my under-grad in Japan. This decision of mine, however, gives me only two practical paths: Sell my computer (which I really have no idea how and where I should start at, $300?) or disassemble and try to pass it off as a carry-on. I highly doubt I will choose the latter approach, so please enlighten me with some advice.

I also heard that GPU prices in Japan will be crazy, but the used parts market in Akihabara is some-what decent. I plan to buy used parts and to keep a under $1000 desktop build for the four years I will be spending there.

Current planned build:
CPU: i5 or FX series
GPU: waiting for Q2-Q3 2015
Motherboard: something that works, maybe crossfire or sli
Storage: anything above a WD Black is fine
RAM: 8 or 16 GB
PSU: around 600-800w
Case: fits in a dorm (a Japanese one at that)
OS: Already have windows 8

Now for my current build:
CPU: i7 950
GPU: EVGA GTX 590 (I hate dual-core GPU's after buying this)
Motherboard: X58 Sli-3
Storage: WD Black 1 TB
RAM: 8 GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance
PSU: Raidmax 1000w (not buying this brand next time)
CPU cooler: Corsair H50 (may move onto air since it's really humid in Japan)
OS: windows 8

Thanks for bearing with this non-sense. Are my current plans sound? Any additions that would improve it? Perhaps some advice when buying used parts?

Thank you,

I was considering a site like eBay or Craigslist, but I never knew that computer stores would buy your computer (or at least for a some-what reasonable price). I live in the heart of silicon valley so finding computer stores isn't that much of a problem.

I hope to sell it within the $300-500 range. Given the current specifications, does anyone think this is realistic? Whether on eBay, Craigslist, or any other third-party seller.
