Hello. Recently I decided I needed to upgrade my psu, case, and mobo. Installing all the hardware was not a problem but when I went to boot my computer I got an error on the motherboard, AB (Prepare BBS for Int 19 boot. Init MP tables.). That is what I need help fixing. On top of that, or maybe a part of that I don't know, it says that neither my HDD or the disc the mobo came with is the right drive to boot from. I should also note that the mobo recognizes my ram, hdd and DVD, cpu, and gpu.

What OS? Windows 7 OEM will not work with a motherboard switch. A new Windows 7 or 8.1 license is needed.

Is the install from the previous board?

They are totally different board with different drivers you can't do that it rarely works.

Yes, Windows was installed on my HDD while I was using the other board.

You can't do that they have different chipset drivers etc.

You need to perform a clean install.

How would I go about doing a clean install? Do I need to purchance another windows licence? Also you mentioned they arnt the same drivers, but the DVD it came with has the drivers to the new motherboard, couldent I use that?

You need a new license also that OEM is locked to the hp bios.

When you buy your own copy of Windows 8.1 you can move it to another build when you are done with this one , but only one computer at a time. With Windows 8.1 you can change all the hardware you want including the motherboard.

OEM's such as DELL , HP etc. are locked to the bios of that board.

Thank you. For future reference, what is the correct way to do this then?

Purchase your own copy of 8.1 and you need to perform a clean install.
