Hi my laptop is Asus X502CA, core i3,1.8 ghz,on windows 8 64 bit.I bought this brand new with warranty and its a lovely product. However I messed up everything spilling water all over it while the laptop was on sleep mode. Following this a few motherboard components situated right beneath the vents on the back of the laptop was damaged.I opened the whole laptop and left it to dry for over a week. The laptop turns on, all lights displayed, processor and fan runs but no display. The only damage so far is to that golden colour connector pin from screen to motherboard and a few components underneath it.I don't have enough money to replace the board or get it repaired by Asus.I have only used it for 2 days and its now dead forever.Any help would be appreciated

Hi

There are companies offering to repair laptop motherboards for £130 in UK
Probably similar in other countries

And other companies selling reconditioned laptop motherboards for £70 to £200
Cheapest in China most expensive in USA
I took a punt on one for a Toshiba laptop from a polish company for 100 euro

First one was wrong version as battery connector differed also
Had pata not sata optical drive connector

As there is a eu directive on distance selling giving 7 working days to cancel and only pay return postage
( recently updated to 14 days) it was swapped for the correct version)

Be aware laptop motherboards may have many hardware options but same model marked on motherboard. Hopefully there will be a label giving more...

Send detailed pictures of your motherboard to seller to save mistakes

Or sell case , keyboard , hard disk, optical drive , ram and screen for spare parts

If you had removed laptop battery immediately damage may have been avoided
