Here is the almost-from-scratch build and approximate pricing (I haven't picked up up the Mobo/CPU, Ram, or PSU):

Edited for Tomshardware format

Approximate Purchase Date: End of August

Budget Range: (e.g.: 900-1200) Before tax, shipping, etc.

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, movies, etc

Are you buying a monitor: Possibly, but have an older one to use in the meantime

Parts to Upgrade:
CPU: Intel i5 4690k ($250)
Moba: Asus z97-A ($150)
GPU: Visiontek Radeon R9 280x ($250)
Ram: 2x4gb HyperX FURY Black 8GB DDR3-1600MHz CL10 ($90)
SSD: Sandisk 256gb (bought a while ago - about $120)
PSU: Corsair CX600M - 600W ($65)
Case: Phantek Enthoo Pro ($90)
Cooling: Additional required if overclocking?

Do you need to buy OS: Yes. Plan to purchase Windows 7 at Memoryexpress (PM through Newegg)

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Preferably Memoryexpress (close to me)

Location: Calgary, Alberta

Parts Preferences: Prefer Intel - otherwise, open to suggestions.

Overclocking: Maybe - i.e. 4690k for future potential overclocking. Likely won't start with any O/C.

SLI or Crossfire: Not likely.

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments: Gaming for Counter strike, Dota and up to games like Farcry 3.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Laptop died, moving back to desktop.

Any thoughts and suggestions for parts or pricing would be great - thanks!

Cheers.

Looking good, I'd probably change the PSU, the CX series uses weak caps, and may want a CPU Cooler down the road, the Hyper 212 EVO is a great one and at $35, a great buy
