Do I need to use the two 4 pin "cpu" power connectors if I'm using a 20pin + 4pin "p4" connector?

I have a bequiet! Pure Power 630w PSU and a Asus M5A97 mobo. I've connected the 20pin power connector as well as the paired 4pin "p4" connector. I believe the p4 connector supplies the cpu with additional power is that correct?

Now there are also a pair of 4pin connectors from the PSU that are labelled "cpu". Do I need to use these and if so where do they go?

The manuals really don't give much away.

Any help appreciated!

  1. Yes, you absolutely *must* use the CPU power connectors. Look at this page from the manual for the motherboard. See that blue dot "2"? That's where you need to plug it in.

The two 4-pin connectors must be plugged into the 8-pin connector above the CPU socket.
  3. Ah thank you very much! That must have seemed like a dumb question to ask. :)

The outcome would have been worse if you didn't ask! :)

BTW, I believe the pins should slot together to make an 8-pin from the 2x 4pins.
