I am planning on getting the "EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 03G-P4-2881-KR" for about $699, but I am aware there is another version which is the "EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 03G-P4-2883-KR" that is almost a hundred dollars more.

Is there any real difference between the two cards?

Only core clock speed from what I can tell.

On newegg they are only $20 difference. The more expensive one is the "superclocked" version. It has a 105MHz higher core clock and that's it. The best one (EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Ti 03G-P4-2888-KR) has non-reference cooling which is better for OC'ing. It also has an even higher core clock and a boost clock.
EDIT: Not the best one, but the best one for the price. The Kingpin is the best and also the most expensive.

definitely get the 03G-P4-2888-KR model with the dual acx fans if you are looking for an evga model. it runs cooler, quieter, and is also slighly faster than the reference models you listed.

but honestly for the price... at least on newegg... the msi gaming model is basically the same and cost much much less.

I second the MSI Gaming 780 Ti as a great buy.

On the topic of EVGA cards I recommend avoiding the ACX coolers at all costs, I've had so much trouble with multiple cards with ACX coolers. I'd say stick to reference coolers. The Cooling difference (in my experience) is negligible and so is the noise difference.

Why not be indie and go for a galaxy hof edition? Or a inno3d one? Both offer great performance and both have great coolers

the galaxy hof is for extreme overclocks... and months ago they were pulled from shelves for a "catching on fire" issue they were having.... so finding them was a pain.

Is it? it's price is 500 gbp, whereas the kingpin is 670gpb. I think you can overclock it a bit but not extreme like the kingpin or the classfied, not extreme, more like mild overclockers. But i myself am getting the inno3d one anyways but I was going to consider the hof edition again...

before the classified and lightning were released.... the galaxy hof was the biggest baddest boy on the block. the kingpin holds a huge premium even over the classified.

Why was MSI's lightning edition cancelled?

Only 8 were released, it was a closed project, it wasn't cancelled, it was never meant to be released to the public

All samples were sent to pro-overclockers for shits and giggles.
