New graphics card, no sound detected.

I just upgraded from an Nvidia Quadro FX 1800 to an Nvidia Geforce GTX 580. The driver and graphics card seemed to fit in smoothly and everything EXCEPT that I now have no sound. And I don't mean that it switched devices... there are now no audio output devices even detected on my computer anymore, despite Nvidia audio and Realtek audio both being installed AND both of them working correctly. What can I do?

How do I enabled the sound device in Windows?
Because with it installed, opening the "playback devices" list in sound/audio preferences shows nothing. Even with "show disabled devices" checked off and everything.

Make sure you're using either the DVI VGA or HDMI from the card.

DVI doesn't carry sound, if you're using speakers from your monitor/TV you'll need a HDMI or Sound Cable to get the speakers to work

My bad lol. I just meant to say HDMI. If I were you, I'd just put 3.5mm auxiliary from your onboard to a speaker or headphone or something. I've got my sound hooked up to an auxiliary and that cable is hooked up to a sound bar.

Oh, haha
I tried to plug in speakers and it wouldn't even register. Nothing.
My friend came to help and said it was a driver issue... we fixed it temporarily, but not in a long-term way...
