if you went from 1080p one day to 1024 x 768 you may find the downgrade unacceptable. If its an upgrade than no complaints. if you know nothing else, how bad can it be?

On the good side: Low resolutions requires less effort of the GPU and therefore you can have more frames per second for a smoother gameplay.
On the bad side: Low resolutions can turn into pixelated images when upscaled to screens of many inches, it also reduces your field of view and can be stressing to your sight if the screen is small. Also, many modern games support screen resolutions of a minimum of 1280x720.

If that's the monitor you currently own, then yes those titles would still look good. They would look even better on a 1080p monitor however.

I'd recommend to buy at least a 21.5" monitor for full HD 1080p. They go for around $100.
