I'll start with our goal - a monster machine, for under $1000. It's a hard combination to pull off. Both PC and laptop entries are welcome. But, before I get into the minutiae of the comparisons, it's best to give some baselines. i7 CPU or better/comparable, minimum of 16G RAM for price range but upgrade-ready is a necessity to a minimum of 32, 1TB HD or better, 3G+ GPU - there's wiggle room here, but it's small and only out of the sake of reasonable ease for entry. You get the idea - it need not be the most modern and cutting edge, but the specs should be respectable.

Upgrade-capable is fantastic, but laptops are more than welcome in this - though plenty of laptops of this caliber are usually equipped with the capacity to do so anyway. To keep it honest, a respectable monitor must be included in the PC build. This is relative but use your best judgment in defining this. In the case of a laptop suggestion, these should be kept in 17"+ range. The winner receives a prize in the form of praise, gratitude, and respect and admiration of peers. Or an uncompromising apathy from peers more likely, but I won't let you down. Probably. Seriously though, all feedback is appreciated.

Why dont you read the sticky in the systems forum where this belongs about asking assistance with a new build. Much more helpful than that wall of text you posted there. Not to mention itll most likely help you by getting the right people reading your request for help.

I got here by Google on a phone and this is my first post - I didn't even know there was another forum. I'll be sure to do that now though, your kind welcome is most appreciated. Also, I added a space for you, so now it's only two half walls, and presumably less intimidating.
