I've been using a Sempron build as a low-budget home theater for the family for the past two years. Connected to a 1080p television and currently using Mint 17 Mate for the os. It has a very cheap radeon gpu and works nicely for video/streaming (Netflix, Hulu) and web surfing. But I did need to overclock the Sempron to 3.2 ghz before HD video would play smoothly from the hard drive. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised as long as your expectations aren't overblown.

I don't know if Crunchbang supports Realtek gigabit LAN yet which comes with your motherboard. Crunchbang does work for me with a wired connection on my older Z68 motherboard with intel i5 2500k cpu., but doesn't work on my new Z87 board (wired or wireless) with gigabit LAN... needs additional drivers. But it's been a few months since I last tried and things may have changed since then.

Your listed cpu and motherboard will cost $100... for that same cost you could get a Haswell Intel Celeron cpu and H81 motherboard and have a much better system (in my opinion). A gigabit LAN will do you no good if you don't have a gigabit router to broadcast the wireless signal.
