Hey everyone!

I just wanted some advice on the parts I have selected for my first gaming rig. I will be using it for high end gaming (Crysis 3, Metro Last Light etc). Let me know what you guys think!

CPU: Intel Core Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D14
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Hero
Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2x8gb) 1866 DDR3 RAM
Video Card: Asus Geforce GTX 780 DirectCU II OC
Case: NZXT Phantom full ATX black
PSU: Corsair AX 860i Platinum ATX
Monitor: BenQ XL2720Z 144Hz 27.0" 1080p monitor

Solution
Change the ram to this. You don't need dominator platinum ram and this is faster. You will never go over 8GB's in gaming. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231518&cm_re=gskill_2133-_-20-231-518-_-Product

Change the PSU to this unless you plan on eventually having two graphics cards. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817151118&cm_re=seasonic-_-17-151-118-_-Product

You don't need an i7. An i5 4690k would be just fine but an i7 wouldn't hurt. It is just unnecessary. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117372&cm_re=i5-_-19-117-372-_-Product

If you are not going into extreme overclocking, you do not need that board. Get this...

for a hardcore gaming machine, youd be better off dropping to a 4690k. still a very good and OCable cpu, more than adequate for games and plenty of other things
also, i would get a cheaper set of ram. anything 1866/2x8/1.5v will be good. 1600mhz would even suffice well. you could even drop to 2x4gb and be fine with games.

funnel the savings from those changes into a better video card, like a 780ti/ or maybe 290/x maybe. youll have to check

at a glance, the change in ram cost will net you about $60 savings by its self.

Just going with less ram (8Gb is plenty) and a cheaper PSU, that's just as good, the Supernova G2 850W, will let you get a 780 Ti within your budget. (It depends on where you live, but you should be able to get it withing your budget.) However, if you do want to stay with these components, then I can safely say that this is a very good build, and all the components that you chose are very good.

If you are wanting to overclock to really high numbers, this cooler will be better (its the newer version of the NH-D14) http://www.ncixus.com/products/?usaffiliateid=1000031504&sku=96233&vpn=NH-D15&manufacture=Noctua&promoid=1011

If you are not even going to overclock or you are only doing a mild overclock, these will do. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

For the case, I recommend the Enthoo Pro as it is better than every other case in its price range. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811854003&cm_re=enthoo_pro-_-11-854-003-_-Product

Or the Arc Midi R2 if you don't need the extra space. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811352031&cm_re=arc_midi_r2-_-11-352-031-_-Product
