I read that Corsair CX series PSU's are horrible. Is it the same for there AX series or did they just fail with there CX series. I was thinking about getting the AX860i but with the bad reputation with the CX I wasn't so sure. Anyone have an AX PSU and can confirm they work fine? Thanks! BTW: For those of you that have the 'i' model, how do you like it? Is it worth the extra $30 or whatever it is?

The AX series PSUs aren't the same as the CX series at all. The AX series are excellent units, and are very reliable. Read this review, and you will know why: http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=...

I would recommend the Supernova G2 850W though, for similar performance at a much lower price.

The series number is a reasonable indicator of quality but not always ..... remember also that AX and AXi are different.... very different .... I wouldn't buy AX cause HX was better and cheaper...... AXi is better than HX but exepnsive

-HX Series ...... 650, 70 & 850 were great .... 1000 and 10590 were dogs, good ones comparable to Seasonic M12

-AX series ...... almost comparable to HX but HX had better voltage regulation, lower ripple and was cheaper so why bother.

-AXi series ...... excellent performance and build quality but waaay overprices, comparable to Seasonic X series.

-TX V2 series ..... very good, comparable to Seasonic S12

-CX, CS, C anything .... I wouldn't touch

-RM .... proposed successor to TX V2 but caps have variable quality.

Well, from personal experience I don't know why corsair PSU's would have such a bad reputation. I have had a Corsair CX600 watt PSU running my system 12 hours a day for 2 years without a hiccup. My system has a 125 watt phenom ii x4 CPU, a radeon HD 7850, and is overclocked. I haven't looked at the actual internals or anything, but the CX600 looks and feels to be of good quality.

I would recommend an AX series PSU.

However, as with all products, there are always units that suffer huge failure for whatever reason. If it makes you uncomfortable, a cooler master or rosewill PSU would be a good buy.

Corsair VS , CX , CXM , CS , CSM , RM all use poor caps.
