PCI-E Adapter Help

I bought a XFX 290 and I need 3 PCI-E connections and my psu only has 2, I was wondering if there is any adapters I have extra cables I just can't think of the names right now, or what I can do. I am using 2 6pin to make a 8pin with the adapter that the Gpu came with, now I need 1 more 6pin. I tried running it with just the 8-pin but it didn't seem to workout.

You can get a 6 pin to 8 pin adapter that only needs one 6 pin input, but the power supply will likely not be able to provide enough power. According to AMD, the R9 290 needs at least a 750 watt power supply. You can run it on a good 600 watt power supply, but it will put the PSU under heavy load.

I have a 500watt thermaltake, I was thinking of getting 1 6pin to a 8 pin adapter, and use the other 6pin to connect to the Gpu also, will I not be able to do that?
