Greetings,
New to this forum, and I just wanna ask for help about my pc.

Basic Specs
MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-M61PME-S2P
Processor: AMD Athlon x2 64 2.7ghz
HDD: 160GB Western Digital Sata
RAM: Kingston 800 DDR2 2GB
PSU: I dunno the brand, i think it's one of those generic ones, says 600w
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Well, it's pretty old but It is still useful in some ways (documents, photo editing, browsing the net) so I'm not really eager to discard it. The problem is that it sometimes shuts itself down instantly, I mean no lights or whatsoever. Sometimes it wont power up but the keyboard LEDs are on, sometimes it works for a minute or two, sometimes it works for about i dunno 5 hours maybe, then after, it just shuts down. Sometimes it can run in safe mode then if I restart it in normal boot it shuts down after passing the windows boot screen.

I suspected maybe it was the Temperature of the system that is causing the problem, so I tried installing 3 more fans and I also re-applied Thermal Paste in hopes to get the Temperature down. When i checked the bios Temperature It plays around 45-53°C with the CPU, and 40- 47°C with the system. I think that's pretty normal for an AMD CPU, so I came to the idea that the Temperature is not the problem.

I beginning to think that the PSU or maybe The Motherboard is just too old (one of it's RAM Slot is not working anymore, thus limiting me to 2GB of RAM). I have also checked windows even viewer and the only error that I see there this "Event 41, Power Kernel" thing, that says "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly".

Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you guys soon.

Thank you for the help guys, I just got new motherboard which is a lot better. I'll grab a new PSU tomorrow.

Follow up Question, If i get a 500w PSU, would it be enough even if i install a graphics card ? I have a spare Radeon HD5570 lying around, planning to use it on this computer.
