replacing inside of laptop

So I recently bought a new laptop that I LOVE! My old laptop is shit though, and I want to experiment with it and learn as much about computers as I can from it. Would I be able to take it apart and replace the hardware in there like the motherboard, CPU, GPU ect? What are my chances of trashing it if I can?

usually you can only replace the mobo with the same mobo. The GPU is soldered on the board. Some laptops will have the CPU soldered on some in sockets. Not many can be upgraded except hd, ram.
