Hi folks,

First post here, hope I a in the right place for the thread, ok so I have bought an ASRock X79 Extreme 6 and Intel i7-4930k combo.

I am trying to find uefi settings for this combo but fresh outta luck, I am using BIOS version 3, I run a Corsair H100i liquid cooler on the CPU and that did my last i72600k @ 4.9ghz very nicely.

Ok so I am struggling to use the auto or EZ OC at 4.6, 4.8 forget it but 4.6 is struggling, the fixed voltages are like 1.45 and that to me is too high for sure, ok so guys, can anyone or does anyone know of the uefi settings I should be manually dialing into this combo?

I am aiming for 4.8 eventually but just not having success, with this combo, the i7-2600k and Z68 Extreme 4Gen3 board I had prior was a cinch, this is not looking so good, I ummmmed and arrrred about this upgrade and I am not reaping 4.6 without high voltages and 4.8 forget it.

Could anyone please help me and share your expertise with the main uefi settings I should be dialing in?

Many thanks in advance guys :)

Cheers Mat

so this is hte ivy bridge sorry about the other link.

i know it is for an asus but the settings should be very similiar and there are videos. everything that i have read says that they overclock the same as sandy bridge
most reviews that i am reading are only getting 4.5 with the 22nm chips

I have hit 5.0 on my old 2500k by following these guides and I would have to think that reading through these first then asking more specific questions after may be of best service.

I do not mean to be rude but you would have to exchange all of your current settings.

I would find out what4.4 - 4.5 is stable at first.

you need some kind of base sstable setting...

Thanks mate very much, yeah I have seen those and I am a bit of a noob and really want some guidance in relation to my setup, I am running a 4930k which is an IVY-BRIDGE but I did have a sandy which I happily got to 4.9ghz so yeah but the 4930k is proving to be more difficult for sure, thanks anyway for your links mate :)

you need some kind of base sstable setting that is only voltage and multiplier.

The programs that I use are:
Prime95
RealTemp
CPU-Z

1. Set ratio to 43 and tune voltage to 1.20 manual
2. Stress with Prime95 for 10 minutes
3a. If pass, bump ratio by 1
3b. If fail, increase voltage by a notch and re-test or lower ratio
4. If passed 15 minutes and happy with overclock, stress-test for 12 hours for stable confidence
5. If passed 15 minutes and unhappy with overclock, repeat steps 2 to 5
6a. If fail 12 hour Prime95 (Worker stopped, BSOD or any error), increase voltage by a notch and re-test

it also appears that voltages over 1.35 are not rec'd

You will do very very well to get 4.9Ghz from a 4930k... I think that might even b touching on world records for that chip...

I hav a very good example 4930k that will do a stable 4.7Ghz at 1.31 Vcore, or 4.8 Ghz at a considerably higher Vcore... But really a Vcore of 1.3 is considered a safe maximum, so I run mine at 4.6Ghz.

To be clear - where as the known likely max OC for a 2600k was 4.8 - 5.0 Ghz, for a 4930k it's considerably lower...

Ok awesome thanks so very much mate, I get it, I have been running an offset voltage, so your suggesting fixed at a max of 1.35 and everything else auto then?

Yeah I get it now that these chips dont clock like sandys, yeah 4.6 is more of a figure than 4.8 for sure, thanks mate very much :)

Ahhh excellent, ok so a 1.45 fixed is the same as setting .145 in offset
