HDD not booting correctly into Windows

I have an old Gateway computer that has recently died, but I still believe that the HDD is fine and so are any files on it. However, when inserting the HDD into an extra computer, Windows tries to boot and gives me the options of launching Startup Repair or Starting Windows Normally. I have tried both of these options and neither works.

It is Windows Vista 32-Bit Service Pack 2 (not positive about which service pack it is)

If I select Launch Startup Repair, then Startup Repairs tries to find errors, but says that it has failed to repair the drive. The error code I receive is:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem Event Name: StartupRepairV2
Problem Signature 01: Auto Failover
Problem signature 02: 6.0.6000.16386.6.0.6001.18000
Problem signature 03: 5
Problem signature 04: 262147
Problem signature 05: No Boot Failure
Problem signature 06: No Root Cause
Problem signature 07: 0
Problem signature 08: 1
Problem signature 09: System Restore
Problem signature 10: 0
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
Local ID: 1033
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I choose Start Windows Normally, then the screen that says "Microsoft Corporation" pops up and then disappears in about one second. After it vanishes, my computer then starts up as if I turned it off and then back on, but I didn't.

I would really like to have this HDD working because it has many important files on it that I still need.

Solution
boot off of the original hdd on the computer then just use that old gateway hdd as a secondary drive.

change the boot order in the bios
