Planning to purchase a R9 270x (Unless I can be convinced that the GTX 760 is worth the extra money), and I'm having trouble finding the right PSU. I'm a newbie to all of this.

More about : good psu gpu

Although I am an avid NVIDIA fan, the R9270x outperforms the GeForce 760. If you plan to choose a PSU. May please no your CPU first. But if you don't want to share, then I presume a 700W would be perfect extra headroom. :)

I'm running an AMD A-10 7700k APU with dual graphics and 8gb memory. Just starting out, and the dual graphics provide playable framerates at 1080p (low/medium) but I am upgrading to the R9 270x so I can significantly increase my framerates. Do you have a recommendation for a reliable PSU?

Thanks!

Yes I do. Would you be overclocking? If yes then any 700-800W EVGA, Corsir, Antec, XFX or Thermaltake will do just fine.

If no then a 600-700W would do the job.

Hope this has helped you mate. :)
