Need help building a gaming PC. It may sound strange but I've been reading a lot of threads on various builds(primarily in the $600-$800 range) and I think I've settled on the Radeon R9 270X.

My next step is CPU and mother board and I haven't settled on AMD or Intel yet. But I want to find the best setup to fit the GPU and I'm getting a little overwhelmed by the amount of choices. I don't want my computer to be limited by my GPU choice yet I don't want to be underutilizing my GPU either.

I'm not too concerned about PSU, HDD, case, etc. as I feel they fall in line after the above choices and I'll go with 8GB of memory either in 1x8 or 2x4.

with an r9 270x your gonna be limited by your gpu. The most demanding games at 1080p still punish 780 and 780ti graphics cards at max settings. Almost every CPU from intel with 2 cores will be faster than that graphics card. for most games, it really depends on the games your gonna be playing. Heres what i recommend you do,

at that budget you will see a significant performance increase with amd's mantle API so if your games turn out to be amd sponsored or on the list of manltle games go with a 4 core fx or something so you can overclock and milk those integer cores with mantle.

for everything else get a decent 1150 socket motherboard and start your pc building with an aniversery edition pentium. you can either replace it later with a new chip or you can overclock it.

either way at that budget i5's are out of the question, and i3's are over priced in my opinion (for gaming atleast)
