How to setup SSD as windows and programs, and HDD as files/downloads etc.

Hi,

So i want to setup my ssd as the drive with windows and programs on it, then my HDD to have all of my files on it. I have tried this already and things started to go wrong, throwing up errors because the default save locations were changed and they couldnt find what they needed. Im using Windows 8 atm.

did you try a migration software? ie like http://www.paragon-software.com/technologies/components/migrate-OS-to-SSD/ ??

Right click on the My Documents icon on your desktop and change the path on the path tab. Or right click on c: users\<user>\my documents.

yea that seems like a good one, but you have to buy it, and i dont really want to have to do that. Is there a way that you can make Windows save all the downloads and files to the hdd and then the programs to the ssd for free?
