I'm planning on doing a pretty big overhaul on my computer and right now I'm looking for a high-quality motherboard (something that won't need replaced for a long time even if I buy a new CPU in the near-future) that is compatible with the 4th and 5th gen Intel CPU's (I'll be purchasing the i7-4790k), is 3-way SLI, and has support for up to 32 GB of RAM. I don't really care what the price is, I'm just looking for a really awesome gaming/performance motherboard. Thanks!

You'd want one of these - GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 WIFI-BK

Hey guys, thanks for all the suggestions. My favorite is probably the Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 WIFI-BK but if I need to cut costs then I'll go with your choice volcanoscout. If there's any other good motherboards out there please let me know. I'm looking for the best I can get.

Hi Mathew, I too am buying a I7-4790k cpu and spent several days reading reviews and comparing prices. I am choosing the MSI GAMING 7 motherboard. The other boards had too many negative feedbacks for me. Most of them QC quality issues. Get the MSI Gaming 7 mother board. Amazon has them for $189.00 pluss free shipping.

Thanks for the suggestion generac43 but I actually already a purchased a new motherboard. I did some more research to find the best quality motherboard for the best price and I ended up with the ASRock Z97 Extreme3. I purchased it at a very affordable price because Newegg had it on sale for $109.99 plus a $10 rebate, which is crazy for what the motherboard offers.

It's compatible with 4th gen and 5th gen Intel processors, supports up to DDR3 3100+, max of 32GB of RAM, and somehow supports Quad CrossfireX and Quad SLI. You can take a look at it here:

Ahh, you may be in for a nasty surprise I'm afraid...

"Quad-SLI" is the term manufacturers use for two dual GPUs together (so two 690 cards for instance). "4-way SLI" is the name used for four different cards in SLI together. The ASRock Z97 Extreme3 only supports a maximum of two nVidia cards in SLI together, be them single or dual GPU based cards, so you cannot run a 3-way SLI setup on that board. Sorry.
