Hi

Is this a good cooler? Upgrading from stock fan for FX-6300. I can't go for a 212 because it can't fit in my case. Hoping to get 4 maybe 4.2 GHz over clock.

Thanks

It's OK as long as you don't want to overclock. Try a low profile cooler instead eg Thermaltake SlimX3 Low Profile Multi Socket CPU Cooler

Can you fit a Hyper T4? It performs just as good as a 212 but a little bit smaller. If you can fit that cooler then you can reach those clock speeds. It is also really easy to mount on that socket, just use the standard brackets on top and bottom of CPU, use the clips and stick it straight on, no backplate needed.

My case says it can have a max CPU cooler height of 150mm but the CoolerMaster Website says the T4 is 152.3mm high. Would it fit in my case? My case is a Corsair SPEC-01. (should have said that before)

I put that cooler in a SPEC-03 and though it has the ability to support a cooler 7mm higher it should fit if you mount it flat and NOT so the fan is upright. Measure from CPU to end of case, then from the bulge of the side window, see how large it can be.

What do you mean by mount it flat and not upright? (sorry, kinda new to this stuff)

Ah. So it pulls air bottom to top instead of front to back. Thanks.

just check the width of the cooler, and from halfway check that the bulged out window of case allows a slightly taller cooler to be there.
