Alright, so I just bought a brand new computer and put it together yesterday, here is a list of my parts:

I noticed that my boot times were in the 90 second range and knew that this wasn't typical of an SSD so I started to dig. I ran a few benchmarks and noticed that I was getting less than optimal speeds. Here is an album I put together to show the various pieces of information:

I've looked around but I cant find anything to help me out.

Things to note:
My Mobo is a Z97MX-Gaming 5 and is in AHCI mode already
I believe I'm using the newest sata cables (came with the mobo)
This is currently the only drive in the system and is where the OS is installed. (I disconnected the other drive and this is a fresh install.)

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

Something is definitely wrong for you to get speeds that low.

Change SATA ports and see if that helps. Connect the SSD to port SATA3_0 if it is not there already. See page 26 of your motherboard manual for the location of the port.
Make sure the port you change to is in AHCI mode.

If that doesn't help then you should Secure Erase the drive. A Secure Erase restores any SSD to a blank, fresh-out-of-the-box condition.

After you SE the drive do a fresh install of Windows and see if that improves your benchmark scores.

I looked in event viewer nothing seems to jump out at me. Intel drivers are up to date. I updated the album to include a picture of my current SATA Drivers.

Last night before bed I actually switched it to SATA port 0, formatted, and installed windows 7. Still had the same results...

I'll try Secure Erase now, be back in an hour or two to give an update.

Welp... I'm at my wits here.... Literally spent all day trying to get secure erase to work with no luck. I tried both a USB boot and CD. USB wouldn't work and the CD only got to setting up system devices where it would then hang. I tried unplugging everything and it still just hung there not advancing. I eventually used my previous HDD's and booted into my previous OS and tried to do some type of erasing via the OS, but had no luck. In fact, I've made my situation worse. I went to the disk partitions, deleted the volumes and did a quick format and now my hard drive is showing 223GB. I tried reinstalling Windows 8 one more time to see if it would clear up; Nope. I now sit at 196 of 223 GB. I think it's time to call it quits and RMA this SSD.

I appreciate the help!

Thanks

Try using Parted Magic to SE your SSD. It has always worked for me.

1.) Go to this site: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/parted_magic.html
2.) Where you see: MajorGeeks.Com>>Drive Utilities>>Drive Partitioning>>Parted Magic 2013.08.01>>Download Now, click on "Download Now".
3.) Save the .iso file to your pc.
4.) Burn the .iso file to a USB thumb drive or CD/DVD. I personally use UNetbootin for Windows to burn .iso files, but you can use Windows or any other .iso burning software you wish.
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
5.) Reboot your system to BIOS and change your 1st boot device to your USB drive or CD/DVD drive.
6.) Reboot your system to enter Parted Magic (select Default Settings).
7.) Double-click on the Erase Disk icon.
8.) Select the Internal Secure Erase option

Hopefully your SSD will show up on the list and you will be able to select it to SE.

If you can't SE the SSD with Parted Magic then yeah, you probably need to rma it.

I've never seen ATTO Read/Write speeds so low on a SSD as yours. Even SSDs in IDE mode get higher Read/Write speeds.

I'm actually seeing the same problem. Have you tried a different motherboard? My PNY Optima is really slow on my MSI Z97 PC Mate, but on my thinkpad, it performs as expected.

Sorry to hear you're having the same problem as I did. I ended up just RMA'ing and buying a different SSD. I went with the Samsung 850 Pro 256GB drive and WOW! I am having the fastest boot times and read/write speeds I have ever seen. (550 mb/s for both) I recommend RMA the drive and picking up a different brand. Also, I think it's strange you are getting good speeds on your thinkpad but not on your PC.

Wish I could help you out more. Good Luck!
