Hi, I have a DP35DP motherboard and I'm thinking about buying a modern graphics card (with PCI-E 3.0). But I found this thread (https://communities.intel.com/thread/38635), which states that the mobo doesn't support PCI-E 3.0 cards. Can anybody confirm this? Would you take this as truth and not buy a pci-e 3.0 card?

(officially all pci-e versions should be compatible, only speed might be limited)

Update: I found somebody using this MOBO with a 7870 (somewhat?) successfully (http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-1644213/7870-m...). This means that it does support pci-e 3.0, right?

It will not support a PCIe 3.0 card, but most video cards are backwards compatible with PCIe 2.0. I happen to have a DP35DP in an older PC and I know id supports the previous generation AMD Radeon 7000 series cards. Those are the same PCIe support as in current-gen AND Rx and Nvidia cards.

Well, by now you may have discovered that DP35DP and PCI-E 3.0 won't work.

I just got a Gigabyte Radeon R9 270x and, boy ... *before* the POST BIOS splash, the screen displayed something it not being able to find a boot device with a reference to Intel's web site re the mobo's specs

Nope, it don' wanna work together.

Time for the much needed upgrade.
