ok maybe "hurt" is wrong word. but if you charge a battery and never unplug it it will be damaged much quicker than with proper use. if you run core at 90c it will get damaged quicker than if run under 60.
will using tv as gaming monitor damage it faster than using it to watch movies?

A cpu run at 90c will not get damaged any quicker as a modern LI battery will not wear out quicker, if you don't unplug it. Your TV is made for the refresh rate. It will even accept higher refresh rates for 3D content.
