Hi all,

I have been running some tests on my new GPU, using furmark and games on ultra.

I'm noticing that under heavy stress, my card is reaching 80-85 degrees Celsius, but the fans peak at only about 40% max rpm. Is this normal? I would expect the fans to spin faster if the card is getting too hot.

When I use MSI afterburner I can get the fans to spin faster using custom settings, but I've never seen them go above 45% in auto mode

Perfectly normal, anything under 90C is normal for most graphics cards. Its technically safe till 100C.
But if you would like to to run cooler you can increase the fan curve in MSI afterburner, but that will make the graphics card a lot noisier.

Also, avoid furmark, its very unrealistic and actually killed some cards a few years ago. Its designed to burn in card(in other words get the absolute maximum temps under load possible that yopu will never see during gaming.

No i dont think it should be running at 40% at 80c. In msi afterburner you can setup your own fan profile too go to settings click on the fan tab and there is a graph that lets you choose how fast the fans are going at a certain temp so you can make 60c 40%fan and 80c 100% fan or however you want to do it.
