Hey guys, I just ordered my new gaming computer and already have buyer's regret.
I'd like someone with a little more knowledge on the subject to clear some things up for me. According to multiple leaks on the Nvidia 800 series, the 880 will both outperform, and cost less than the 780 (and Ti of each respectively). If this is true, will we see a drop in the price of a 780Ti? Of course, I can't return my 780 Ti now because I'd be without a computer until October when the cards are released, but if the price of the 780 Ti dropped, buying a second for Sli would be more in my reach, and therefor calm my regret of possibly missing out on a cheaper, more powerful card.

Say if the 880Ti was in fact cheaper, and "30-60% more powerful!" than the 780Ti, would I be able to sell mine easily?
And I know this is all based on theory, but would the 780Ti drop in price?

Because it is supposedly an older architecture, revamped.

I highly highly doubt it will be anywhere near 30-60% more powerful or cheaper. And i would never buy a used gpu but im sure people do just dont expect to get back anywhere near what you paid for it.

Its the new maxwell architecture they are already using it on gtx 750ti's they only difference is that it runs cooler and uses less energy.

Okay. Let me ask you something else then. Was there a drop in the 680's price when the 780 came out? That's all I'm really concerned about. Because if the 880ti causes the 780ti to drop down to an even semi-reasonable price, I'd love to get another for SLI...

I dont remember im sure there was but it wont be a massive price drop maybe 50 bucks when the 800s come out and and it will probably continue to slowly drop after that.

That's sadly upsetting. A $150 drop to make the price on par with its AMD counterpart, the 290x, would be much more appealing. Oh well. Thanks for the help

No problem.
