This is one of the most popular arguments in cpu's but never-the-less i need help!
Here's my current rig I plan on getting:
cpu- i5 4670k or fx 8350
gpu- r9 290 toxic
hdd- 1tb caviar blue
Mobo- GIGABYTE Z97P-D3
psu- xfx 650w xxx pro
Ram- Gskill ares 2x4gb sticks
pcpartpicker list:

So I will mainly be gaming on battlefield 4 and video editing. However, I want the system to be future proof and I dont want any bottlenecking. So here is what I want to know:
1) Will the fx 8350 cost me performance in the long run? If so how dramatic will it be?
2) Is the i5 4670k worth the extra £50?
3) Will the fx 8350 bottleneck my r9 290?
4) Overall what do you recommend, I really want to save some money and this is the main area where I feel i could save a fair bit. I dont want to cut down and regret it, but i dont want to spend extra on a cpu that wont really have a big effect.

The very last one would be the fact that I plan on cross-firing the r9 290s down the line about 3+yearswhen they start slowing down, and was wondering if the fx 8350 would bottleneck them and would an i5 4670k as well?

More about : 4670k 8350

Once you buy an amd you will want to upgrade to an intel so why not do it right now? And yes it's worth it :)

hmm. I have read that with amd cpu's people complain about stuttering in games like bf4 and have to unpark their cpu's do intel cpu's have this problem as well?

Definitely neither of them. i5 4690k would be the one you should be looking for. Unless you solely render (commercially?), but then you should go with something like an i7 4960x anyway.

From the benchmarks i've been looking at the i5 4670k looks pretty damn good to me. I cant afford an I7 and I dont want to spend an extra £20 on a cpu I feel I dont particularly need. I will play a lot of bf4 and will be editing videos casually,

I can however afford an i5 4690 opposed to a 4670k, thoughts?

Isn't the i5 4690k listed for about the same price? If not, you could also get the 4670k, but that would probably need a better cooler from the same OC.

The 4690k is a 4670k with better thermal, and thus overclocking, performance. Get the 90 if you can, get the 70 if you can't.

In any case the i5 is a better choice for gaming than the FX.

Edit: If video editing is a concern, take a look at the Xeon 1230v3. It's an i7 4770 without an iGPU (which is disabled anyway), but it's about £30-£50 cheaper. I have one myself so I can vouch for it. You could pair it with a cheaper H97 motherboard since you won't be overclocking it anyway.

Yeah, a friend also has a 1231v3 with a h97 board and it runs unnoticeably slower than my 4790k. The only thing where it really makes a difference is no GPU accellerated rendering.
