I've used air duster and cleaned all vents and system fans and it still happens. Even when the grinding isn't happening, the ambient noise seems higher than it should be.

if the PSU needs to be replaced, any suggestions? It's an ATX case and the specs are:

Intel i7-930
3xSticks 2GB RAM
Aftermarket Thermaltake SpinQ CPU fan
1x GeForce GTX 470
Creative Labs Sound Blaster X-fi XtremeGamer

the noise could be from a fan also.... but still ill advice u to change the psu .... before u buy the new psu once check whether the psu is at fault.... wht will be ur budget for the new psu....

u can unplug all the pc fan and start the pc (even the cpu fan).... if u hear the noise from the psu, the psu is faulty....
if no noise from psu connect 1 fan at a time.... if tht doesnt work.... it could be ur hard disk also....
