24 pin will not plug in all the way.

I'm building my first pc and my 24 pin motherboard power will not go all the way in. There is a few millimeters of space and the clip is on the verge of clipping on. I've pushed as hard as I can and the darn thing will not go all the way in. The 4 pin connector can go in all the way but the 20 pin will not. any suggestions as to how to fix my problem?

I have a Corsair CX 750 watt and a Gigabyte Black edition ATX LGA 1150 Intel Z97.

I hate to say use more force but you might have to are you positive it isent plugged in all the way? They are defiantly compatible and it should fit.

It's a 20+4 pin connector, sometimes it can be tricky becase the 4 pin connector slides backwards when pushing the whole thing in the header.

silly question, but you have the 20pin and the 4pin clipped together, you're not trying to put them in separately.

they are clipped together. I had my father try to push it in and he couldn't do it either. He is pretty strong. Should I send it in for a refund and get a higher quality psu? perhaps an EVGA psu would be of better quality

I have wiggled, jiggled, pushed down, pushed sided to side and it still doesn't want to go in. I have been trying to get it in for the past 4 hours. Its really stubborn and I am really considering it may be a defective psu.

That EVGA is without doubt better than the CX, if you can RMA it and get that new PSU go ahead

Look in the holes of the PSU and make sure they all look aligned and the pins on the motherboard look straight.

All of the pins are straight on the motherboard. All of the holes are straight on the psu. but it still doesn't plug in. Im going to RMA this corsair psu and get me a higher quality EVGA psu. Thank you guys for all the responses. I really appreciate all of you taking your time to try to help me.

Did you try removing the 4pin part and just try the 20pin part? at some point as you go back and forth, you'll notice the part that isn't plugging in. look there.
