Gpu warranty query

So I was putting the r9 290 into my amazon basket when it said i could buy 3 year warranty for £70.
However, I thought all gpu's came with 3 year manufacturer warranty. (this was a gigabyte windforce r9 290 if that makes any difference)
I'm confused why I would have to buy 3 years warranty when the cards are supposed to come with it!?

im confused at to what the difference is. Amazon warranty means i can send it back to amazon, manufacturer warranty means i send it back to the manufacturer? If that's the case it seems a bit pointless in buying amazon warranty..

I put a question up on asus' r9 290 and someone came back to me saying it comes with a 24 month warranty. but on reviews i've read the asus comes with warranty longter than that, could it be a 24 month amazon warranty they're talking about?
Is it the fact that there's a manufacturer warranty and an amazon warranty?

I think that amazon offer the warranty for any expensive electronic goods? So it's just automatic option for anything over a certain price maybe?

thing is its not just on gpu's either. I removed some items from my basket and added them again and they're also offering me 2 year or 3 year warranty's on them.. is this a new amazon thing because i never remember seeing these messages when i was adding them to my basket a week ago. hmmm...

So, just to make sure we're on the same wavelength, there's 2 types of warranty, manufacturer warranty you get with the product from no matter where you get it from, and an amazon warranty. the amazon warranty is most likely 1 year and after that if it breaks i can only send it back directly to the manufacturer and not amazon? This is madness xD

I think they do that to trick people into thinking that their goods don't have warranty and that they need to buy it, maybe it's just started this week?

Probably, I was never going to buy it anyway, but i was just concerned amazon just decided they'd cut down the manufacturer warranty xD
