Hai guys,

My friend has been getting around 18FPS in BF4 on "Auto" settings recently. His 4670k is overclocked to 4GHz, and his Corsair Vengeance RAM is running @ 1600MHz. He normally gets around 60FPS on ultra. He actually restarted the PC and started getting around 50FPS, but it dropped to ~20 again. Here's the whole setup:

CPU: i5 4670k overclocked to 4GHz
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 120V
GPU: Gigabyte GTX770 2GB
Motherboard: MSI Z87G-45
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB @1600MHz

Help please! Thanks!

What are his max CPU and GPU temps are reported by HWmonitor, while in game? It sounds like an overheating issue.

CPU: idle; 40 load; 70
GPU: idle; ~50 load; ~65

have you updated your bios?
have you installed the newest drivers?
are you downloading anything while gaming?
have you managed 3d settings in nvidia control panel?
and at what resolution is the game being played?

I recommend he go into the BIOS and put the 4670K on stock settings for now, because it's getting too hot and this could possibly fix the issue.
Can you get back to me after he tries this? :)
If he's overclocked the GPU, tell him to reverse the changes he made for now.

Yep, sorry. He updated his BIOS and he's now getting 96FPS on high. Thanks a lot.

Wow! Who knew a BIOS update could do that.
Glad to hear it's been solved :)
