I put together a new build last week & the problem I am facing now is when I press the power button, the system starts up for few seconds(fans on processor,PSU & graphics card starts spinning & also the PSU & Chasis fan LED lights up), then turns off & turns on automatically and boots normally thereafter.
Basically it restarts after few seconds when the power button is pressed.
Can someone tell me what is the real problem?
This is really annoying. It would be great if there's any way to resolve this.If this is normal then its ok.

Note:- The lights on the motherboard always remains on.

My config is as follows:
ASUS Maximus VII Hero LGA 1150 Intel Z97
Intel core i5-4690K
Sapphire AMD R9 290 Tri-x
Corsair XMS3 8 GB (4GB x 2 sticks)
Corsair GS600 PSU
Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 7200 RPM

More about : pressing power button turns seconds turns turns automatically boots

I can't imagine that being normal. Most MBs do that when there has been a chnage in BIOS settings and it has to reset itself for the change. I think I'd consider RMA'ing the board.

Guess what? I just put together a new build and it is doing the same thing. It has a AMI UEFI BIOS.

When you say "The lights on the motherboard always remains on" what do you mean. Is it all the leds. I know Asus has a LED diagnostic system. Check your manual if you haven't already

What I meant is, I have an ASUS Maximus 7 Hero mbd..& its filled with LEDs. A LED lit red line which they call some type of electromagnetic shielding, Start button LED,Reset button LED, Keybot LED & Z97 Chipset LED, these lights on the mbd always remains on.

What happens is when I turn on the main switch (main socket switch) those above mentioned LED lights turns on. Now when I press the power button on the chasis, everything starts spinning(CPU fan, Chasis fan, Graphics card fans) then stops, and then starts again & all this while, those LED lights on motherboard always remaining on.

The psu did fine with the previous motherboard? (looked under your avatar)

Try reconnecting everything,or even try it outside the case.

I don't think the red leds should stay on,these are as already mentioned to see which component might be faulty,if all stay on would i look at the motherboard itself.

Yes the PSU did fine with the previous motherboard..I already tried reconnecting everything but its the same.. & according to the manual those LED's which I talked about should always light up whenever the system is plugged to a power source.
So I think that those LED's are working accordingly.

On the right hand top side should there be a 2-digit error display (Q-code),does it give an error when this happens? Is a certain nr.

If you somehow find a solution for your system then please do post it here.

No..it doesn't..It always displays 'A0' which according to the manual means "IDE initialization is started".

Take the components out of the case, lay the motherboard on a stable flat surface (put something underneath it,the box it came in or a folded towel ...) and connect everything to it again, see if it works normal like that.
The best thing might even be to completely rebuild the pc and recheck every step.

If you had the possibility could you just try another psu too.

Ram works at it's rated speed/voltage and timings? Look into the bios for that.

Yes I did it too..but with same results..though I did not expect anything else. And yes RAM works at it's rated speed. Also I have no option to try with another PSU.

From one of those topics(the first) did i get this,

Quote:
I disabled fast boot in Windows under power options and the error is no longer appearing in the event log. Also the double post is no longer happening, so that seems to have fixed the problem

did you look at that?

Did you completely read through the topics for solutions?

Yeah I looked that too & in my case there is no error. Also I disabled fast boot and double boot still occurs.

Well looked around too and maybe it's something they put in the bios deliberately as a check of some kind.Read even something like a check for the power input.
They alll talk about a "cold boot" which i think means that you take the pc totally of the power for the night.Do you do that?
Your ram is it at spd settings or do you have xmp enabled? What does it do with xmp disabled? This is a kind of overclocking, maybe this triggers the double boot.

There's an english post in this german topic,
http://www.hardwareluxx.de/community/f248/maximus-vii-h...
look for tips in that.
Read for instance about haswell compatibility of the psu which yours should be according to this list,
http://techreport.com/review/24897/the-big-haswell-psu-...
but maybe with disabling the c6/7 states that you won't have problems.

Well all kinds of things you could try if you have the will, time and energy.

You do have bios 1104?

Just an update on the similar issue I was having. It turned out to be "user error". Duh!
I inadvertently stuck the case speaker on the 4 pin ME_UNLOCK header instead of the 4 pin SPK header. They are right next to each other on the bottom of the board and have the same pin layout. My bad.
No more shut downs during Windows re-starts now.
