I have a Gateway FX Series laptop, running an hdmi cable to my Panasonic projector HDTV. The quality is great, for the most part it works fine. It seems completely random, and could be a problem with the TV...but I was hoping it's an easy fix.

The issue-
Whether I'm watching Netflix, using Photoshop, or playing games; the tv will randomly go black (the power led flashes green), and after a few seconds turns back on. If I wiggle the cable, nothing happens. If I unplug it, the tv shows what display I'm on (hdmi 3). I can use the same cable on my ps3 and have no problems, so IMO it's either not detecting to my laptop correctly, or the tv needing a new capacitor or something.

Sometimes I can be plugged in for hours and have no problems, other times it resets the tv every few minutes.

So....Any possible solutions?

These are long shot ideas.

1. Read the manual for your projector.

2. Try HDMI 1 instead of HDMI 3.
Test the system for stability

3. Disable the screen saver.
Test the system for stability

4. Disable sleep or suspend
Test the system for stability

If any of this works please post back your final solution.

I scanned through the manual a while back and didn't see anything related. Have tried other modes (hdmi 3 to 1)
No screen saver, have all settings to stay powered on while plugged in. (100% sure charger is plugged in).

Thanks for quick response. Sorry I wasn't a little more detailed.

If your on Windows, try pressing the Windows key and 'p' to select the type of projection you want. Set it to the projector only and see if it turns off then. It might be the issue with displaying both displays for a long time. This could help define the problem more...
